Baby Groot for Phoenix Con 2019!

Well, I sold out, yes SOLD OUT! of the first edition Groot. Thank you to EVERYONE who bought a print and made that run a success. So, as true Vanquish Studio fashion, there is a different edition for the new year. Ever since the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie came out (which I really liked), it seems as though everyone just LOVES Baby Groot. And what’s not to love? An adorable little plant that is just too cute even for his captors! I finished the pencils for a new Groot during the Tucson Comic Con and my business partner liked it so much she told me to scan it and color it. OKAY! Here is a sneak peek of the inks. The generic gradient background is just for showing the inks. I’m going to color this one very carefully! Comment and let me know what you think!!

Happy Thanksgiving Day

This is usually the time when people get together with family and eat so much food it feels like your going to explode! Well, I know a great way to burn off all those calories. DRAW! Okay, I’m kidding, drawing doesn’t really burn off calories but it does make you better at drawing.

Enjoy your holiday and get back to drawing!

New Worksheet Soon

Have you been practicing your hatching lines? In EVERY comic or manga that you pick up there will be, somewhere in that book, some hatching lines! I’m making a new video showing how I made the worksheet but, YES, I will have a new worksheet for you soon so you can practice.

I’m also making another hands video. So many people have trouble drawing hands (including me) that I thought I would do a continuing series on it. Some of the videos will be posted on my website and some on my YouTube channel. Unfortunately, I have to watch my storage usage so I flip-flop between the two platforms.

Stay tuned!

Keep Practicing

What’s the best way to get better at something? Practice! I have trouble drawing hands so I’ve started practicing drawing them. I have a “how-to” video uploaded to my YouTube channel. I would put it on this site but I have to watch my GB space. If you’re interested in learning how to draw hands then check it out.youtube

A Great Time with the Girl Scouts!

Believe it or not I was asked to run a comic workshop for a Girl Scout badge bonanza event. I didn’t even know what that was but I figured, why not? It turned out to be a complete blast and a half! I had so much fun teaching the bare (and I mean BARE) basics to two classes of pre-teens. There were girls from all over the state of Arizona. The leader of my particular workshop had everything ready so my part was pretty easy. If you ever get the chance to hang out with the Girl Scouts and do a free workshop – DO IT! You won’t be disappointed.
