Okay, so I’ve been really busy getting ready for the Tucson Comic Con which is in two weeks. I need to fix my display and add more originals to my portfolio. In the meantime, I did make a few more coloring pages. Check ’em out!
So I’ve started a You Tube channel with art tutorials on it and my first video…creating a metallic texture with colored pencils. I chose Ironman because I already have an awesome chibi version of Ironman. I suppose I could have used my Dr. Doom for the tutorial but no one seems to like that character as much. Bummer. Anyway, if you want to see the video click the link Vanquish Studio.
I’ve added a picture of the way people usually color and the Vanquish way! Okay, that’s a little dramatic but you get the idea. I also added a download of the coloring page so if anyone is interested they can download it and color along. That’s on my download page. Enjoy!
I’m very nervous but also excited about opening my new online store. Many people ask me about my prints and if they could buy them online but I’ve always said “I’m working on it”. It’s up and running right now! Of course not all prints in my gallery on this site are for sale in my store. Some prints have been retired already and aren’t available. Other prints are being redone for the new year so the 2014 version is on sale. Check it out!
Okay, so I retired a bunch of characters at this year’s Tucson Comicon which means I need to get going with all new stuff for next year. I know that Marvel will be releasing the Black Panther in 2017 so I thought I would work on that character. I admit, I had to do some research into T’Challa. He has had many different costumes over the years and some are better than others. This is what I have so far. Enjoy!
Thank you to everyone who bought a print at the Tucson Comicon. this was my third year at the Tucson Comicon and it has been a big success EVERY year! I will definitely be back next year. I had a lot of closeouts that people took advantage of and duplicate prints: Poison Ivy, Storm, Silver Surfer, Riddler, Scarecrow, Superman 1 and 2, Hulk, Dr. Doom (I really liked that one), Joker 1, Spiderman 2, Elektra, Green Goblin, Venom, Wonder Woman, and the Punisher are all being retired. If you got a print…KEEP IT….it’s a collector’s item now. I’m working on all new stuff for 2015. I’ll have a new, more traditional Joker (NOT the Heath Ledger version which I retired), a more dynamic Hulk (he won’t just be standing there), a different Spiderman than my two previous versions, Black Panther, and Deathstroke! I’m also redrawing a more dynamic Superman and Wonder Woman. Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone who bought a print. Without your support, I wouldn’t have the inspiration to keep creating. Speaking of creative, check out these awesome costumes from the con. I especially liked the Yup Yup Aliens from Sesame Street.
I really enjoy drawing and being an artist but if I don’t do any marketing no one will know who I am! I have to admit, marketing oneself is not easy and it kinda sucks to have to do it. With that said, I’ve been working on a postcard to hand out to people when I attend a comicon. I want to showcase some of my art and let people know about my website. I decided to use the Green Goblin and Spiderman as the centerpiece because the Amazing Spiderman 2 is coming out in May. I might as well cash in on the celebrity, right?
